Biography

Tugba Karaman completed her BA in 9 Eylul University in Theology. She did her MA in Religions and Theology at the University of Manchester. Karaman received her PhD from the University of Manchester in History in 2016. Her research focuses on the Late Ottoman women’s periodicals and Ottoman gender history.

Research Interests

Late Ottoman Social History, Women and Gender in Middle Eastern Societies, Modernisation-Islam Relationship, Modernisation and Social Change in Middle Eastern Societies, Alternative Modernities, Islam and Gender, Islamic theology and Islamic history.
